As a community event, the role of the women organisers, mothers and partners are integral in the process we run for teenage boys and men.
There is a long history of significant contributions made by many dedicated women, and they continue in developing and refining the mother’s/woman’s role which forms an important part of every boy’s journey to manhood.
Women and families are actively involved at the departure and return. The departure usually runs from 4:00 – 6:30pm. The return is on the final day from around 3:00 – 5:00pm. Women and children are expected to be present at these events to support their boy and/or man. More information regarding these events will be communicated at the transition evening.
Women/partners are encouraged to meet during the event to support each other through their own individual process that may unfold in the ‘letting go’ of their son. This is usually informal, self-organised and optional. These are arranged by the women for the women. Past activities have included craft making workshops, yoga, meditation and general catch-ups.
As part of the wider community vision, momentum is building within the women’s community for a local Women’s Rites of Passage to mark the transition of girls into womanhood. If you are interested please contact us and we’ll connect you with the right people to keep you informed of its unfolding.
