Our Way With Money

INTENTION

The focus of our group is upon creating positive and sustainable community change. We are dedicated to this change and gain deep reward from seeing this come to being within our community. However, in order to create something that becomes an embedded part of a healthy and vibrant community, we realise that we also need support in the form of financial contributions.

We are a local group of ordinary people who all volunteer our time to ensure this happens. We have witnessed many times the life changing power of a Rites of Passage event and believe in the value of ensuring the long term sustainability of these events. It is our intention to keep our event accessible to anyone who feels a strong commitment to participate, and to never turn anyone away for lack of funds or resources. As such we operate on a sliding scale system to reflect this position.

COST

Payment is by sliding scale from $200- $1350 on top of your deposit. Payment by sliding scale means you pay what you can afford and is based on an honour system. The lowest end of the scale covers the most basic costs of the program, the upper end of the scale allows us to cover costs and also support people with lower incomes, to support the land, infrastructure, equipment and the community involved. We know that it isn’t always possible to pay what you wish you could, so this isn’t a request to pay what you feel the program is worth. We believe everyone has the right to be in this ceremony, regardless of your financial situation. So, we encourage you to pay from a place that feels genuinely giving and honouring of yourself and your means.

DEPOSIT

We do, however, require a non-refundable deposit of $150 per person that will secure you a place on the event. This allows us to raise the funds to purchase some of the food, yet this only goes part way in covering all the expenses we incur in running the event. (Note: the break-even cost is approximately $450 per participant).
